MILLING
THE ALT-AZIMUTH YOKE:
After
starting with a natural brass casting, the "yoke" is machined into
a precision part. The
procedure illustrated shows the two-step milling operation for shaft
alignment. Click Here for a Closer Look.

MACHINING
THE EYEPIECE END CAP:
Each
and every eyepiece end cap is manufactured from solid brass. It is entirely
finished on a precision lathe with no tolerance greater than .003
of an inch allowed.

HAND
POLISHING THE BRASS:
All
component parts are hand-polished and individually coated with clear
heat set urethane (baked at 300 degrees). This
will add years of non-tarnishing vivid natural color to the instrument.

BEFORE
AND AFTER LOOK AT COMPONENT PARTS:
Each
part illustrated clearly shows what it was and what it has become. To
use an old cliché, "One picture is worth a thousand words",
you can easily see that all of the parts shown are solid brass.
